When planning and designing a traditional bathroom, there are a number questions that we are asked on a regular basis. These are important questions and ones that we hope we have covered in this section. What do you paint cast iron baths with?
We recommend a metal primer and any oil based eggshell paint.
Will I need to reinforce my floor for a cast iron bath?
Usually there is not a problem as the weight is distributed over the 4 feet of a cast iron bath (usually about 6.5 stone per foot) and newer houses have no problem in taking such weight. If it is an older property it more than likely had a cast iron bath in there at some point anyway, but if you are unsure it is always best to get a qualified builder to check the joists for you.
Will a cast iron bath cool my water quicker?
No, if you get used to running the hot tap first a cast iron bath will warm up and will retain the heat as long if not longer than a standard bath.
What is the difference between standpipes and shrouds?
Standpipes are used with baths that have no tap holes and are water carrying pipes whereas shrouds are used with baths that have tap holes and are used to cover the copper piping leading to the taps.
What will be the lead time on the bathroom suite or bathroom accessories that I order?
This is determined by what you order. The majority of the shower and bath options, bathroom accessories, toilet and sink choices and bathroom furniture featured on our website need to be ordered in and may take approx 3 to 4 weeks for delivery. However, some bathroom items we do stock and can get to you within a few days, it is better to enquire before ordering to get an approximate delivery time before confirming your order.
Do you price match?
Although all bathroom products are already discounted, we do promise to match or beat anybody’s prices as long as it is like for like and a manufacturer we can source.
What guarantee do you offer on your bathrooms?
As we do offer many different bathroom manufacturers products they all come with different length guarantees, however the majority of the products on our website do come with a lifetime guarantee although it is better to check before finalising your order.
Who will deliver my bathroom?
We have our own 200,000 square foot warehouse and distribution centre with over 25 vehicles on the road Monday to Friday, all our drivers are qualified to at least level 2 NVQ.
Do you charge for bathroom delivery?
Yes, if there is a cast iron bath involved in the order there is a £75.00 standard charge anywhere on the mainland uk. All other bathroom delivery is between £10.00 and £50.00 depending on size of order and area to be delivered to.
Will you carry the products upstairs?
No, unfortunately we are not insured to carry heavy goods such as a cast iron bath upstairs to the bathroom, so all deliveries made are to the customers ground floor only.
